Brian R. Michels, CPA
Brian has over 15 years of experience in public accounting working with small and mid-sized businesses along with high net-worth individuals. Brian’s expertise extends beyond the traditional areas of accounting and taxation. He serves as a trusted business advisor to companies in a broad range of industries including construction, commercial and residential real estate, hospitality, professional service, and retail. His unique skillset includes specializations in audit, review, and compilation services, cost segregation services, part-time and outsourced CFO Services, business consulting services, and sales and use tax compliance. His close, hands-on approach to client relationships enables him to effectively and creatively advise clients on a wide range of business matters. He brings a client-focused, results-oriented approach to client engagements.
Brian has extensive experience in corporate, partnership and individual income taxation. Additionally, Brian provides proactive planning for closely held businesses, business owners and high net worth individuals. He advises clients on corporate operations, sales and use taxes, partnership transactions and real estate operations. Brian has enabled his clients to realize significant tax savings through proper planning and consultation.
Brian is the Past President of the Suffolk Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). Prior to being elected President, he served on the Board of Directors as Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. In addition, he also serves as Chairperson of the Real Estate and Construction Committee. Brian has written articles on a variety of tax issues and is a frequent presenter and speaker on accounting and tax topics.
Brian has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Hofstra University.
Brian currently resides in Mt. Sinai with his wife Lauren, daughter Ella, and son Preston. In his free time, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, sports and traveling.
